A frame of recycled fishing nets
Our new frame is made from 98% recycled fishing nets that would otherwise have ended up in Danish gardens or landfill. Through advanced processes, the Danish company Plastix transforms used fishing nets and maritime ropes into high-quality plastic material. We send this material to our manufacturer in Skive, who molds the Unmute frame.
6000+ trees planted by 2022
We plant a mangrove tree in Madagascar for every Unmute we sell. The project hires and helps local people - and especially women - to work in areas where there is a lot of inequality and poverty. In addition, the animals get their natural habitat back.
Our thoughts on sustainability
We founded Unmute to spread joy. We believe in the good energy that a personal greeting creates. The idea is an analog product that pleases every time it is played and for longer than a bouquet of flowers or a traditional card with a greeting. And even if we would like it, producing an Unmute is of course not free for the climate.
It is important for us to make the right choices. We want to make our Unmute as environmentally friendly as possible. That's why our frame is made from 98% recycled material. And we are working to make our product even more environmentally friendly. We take responsibility, which is why we have teamed up with Climaider , a Danish company that works to make the world more climate-friendly.
We compensate for the climate every time you buy an Unmute. We do this through the Danish company Climaider, where we remove approx. four times as much CO2 from the atmosphere as an Unmute emitter*. Read more below.
We all have a shared responsibility for our climate and the future challenges our planet faces. That is why we compensate for the climate through the Danish company Climaider .
We offset the climate by investing in projects that prevent the emission of 17kg of CO2 per Unmute sold. More specifically, we remove methane and help poor farmers by providing them with biogas tanks where pig excrement is stored and prevents methane gas from being released into the atmosphere.
We would like to reduce the emissions caused by the production and transport of our Unmute, and thus have a more positive climate footprint.
Our climate compensation removes about four times as many greenhouse gases from the atmosphere as an Unmute emits from production, to transport, to the end at the recipient*. Greenhouse gases are not our only climate footprint. Nevertheless, we believe that it is a good starting point for taking our share of the joint responsibility that all companies must take.
Does it sound too good to be true?
Climaider has calculated our climate footprint based on details about our production, delivery and shipping. CO2 is not our only climate footprint, but it is a place to start. And it makes sense to have a healthy skepticism towards climate compensation, we have that too. That is why we have made sure to only support climate projects that are fully certified and recognized. Ultimately, we believe that the worst thing we can do is do nothing. Read more about the biogas project here .
